The West Coast Eagles are in crisis mode after their fourth straight lose to South Australian team Port Adelaide last Sunday afternoon when Port defeated West Coast 104 – 128.

Many people are saying that they are getting the effects after losing Brownlow medallists Ben Cousins and Chris Judd, whilst former Eagles defender Daniel Chick was delisted also. Media reports are saying the lose of the 3 champions have caused them problems which we are seeing now, so early in the season.

West Coast however backed themselves for this season, saying that the lose of the 3 players will not effect them due to them having young guns like Matthew Priddis, Josh Kennedy, Mark LeCras and others which will step up to the empty roles left by the club.

Unfortunately, not a lot has come out of the players so far into the season. They are also facing a lot of out-of-form 2006 premiership player such as; Andrew Embley, Michael Braun, Chad Fletcher and Quinten Lynch. All will need to find some form to get the Eagles going and stop this 4 game losing streak.

Another problem for the Eagles is Daniel Kerr’s amount of the ball after he racked up only 13 touches, one being a free kick, against Port Adelaide last Sunday. It is not Daniel’s work rate that has decreased, it is the amount of tagging he is receiving that has increased. Chad Cornes got the job of tagging Kerr, which was described as “Wearing Kerr like a glove” from commentators. Some think that the treatment Kerr is receiving is not fair and he should be able to have a free run at the ball. Kerr will play his 150th game against the Western Bulldogs.

But, some good things have come out of the Eagles this season. Rising young talent Ben McKinley is making a great impression on the football world, kicking an average of 4 goals a game this season. Brett Jones is also having a terrific season, giving the Eagles a run out of the back-line the Eagles so desperately need.

West Coast will be playing the Western Bulldogs this Saturday at Telstra Dome in an absolute must win game to restore any hopes for this season and to restore faith.
