” Week 5; The Beat goes on for the men in stripes”

Been away for a while. Have a great deal on my plate at the moment and my laptop is still on the sidelines so haven’t been doing all that much in the way of real writing but wouldn’t you know it we get through week five and the Bengal’s have a winning Record and haven’t stunk up the Joint to bad.

They haven’t been blown out of any game so far and while they haven’t played anyone of real significance either in the AFC north or in general anyone, they have had back to back comebacks in successive weeks and their defense is ranked number one overall in the NFL with a pass rush that’s never been seen around here before. Their biggest win to date has to be spoiling the Buffalo Bills perfect record two weeks ago. The emergence of Green as a receiver has helped Dalton stretch the field a bit and when teams stop filling up the box to stop Benson and play things up a little more honestly, that should give Benson a few holes to run through.

The problem I see right at the moment is Fan Apathy. The Bengal fans, my self included, are so disillusioned with the past twenty years that they just aren’t biting at any chance at all to go see them at home. They have been blacked out twice so far this year and this Sunday’s game with the Manning less colts won’t do any thing to help that. The biggest test will be the home Pittsburgh and the Home Cleveland game. If either of or both of those to don’t sellout in time to be on local TV then there is a serious problem with the fan base and it wont get better anytime soon. In short mister Brown, there needs to be some sort of grand gesture to the fans if you want things to get busy again. Other wise you could be a team that has a home wild card game that doesn’t sell out in time to make local TV…
