Urban Meyer to Coach Ohio State in 2012

Fickel out.

When you’re one of the most dominant football schools in history, you don’t stay down long.  It was no secret that Former Utah Utes and Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer was meeting with Ohio State Athletic Director Gordon Gee this morning in Columbus, but the results were much quicker than anticipated.

Sources close to Meyer say he was attracted to what many call the sweetest coaching job in all of college football, but that assurances that he would have the same amount of control the previous coach Jim Tressel did.

It was apparently discussed at length that he might actually take over immediately, but apparently Meyer wants to look at his recruiting field first.

Current head coach Luke Fickell will stay on as Urban Meyer’s assistant coach.
