The Indianapolis Colts Will Crush The New Orleans Saints… Hard
As most people say this will be a high scoring offensive game, I beg to differ. The Saints are good, but the Colts are great and the team of the year.

What a game that was. Super Bowl XLI. The Colts beat the Chicago Bears and shut up the Manning naysayers about him never being able to win the big one.
However, in my short life this Super Bowl really does not come into my mind as being exciting or eventful. The Giants beating the Patriots ranks number one on the list of the most exciting games in my memory. Super Bowl XLIV just may top that due to two amazing offenses and Quarterbacks who can make anyone look good.

Drew Brees vs Peyton Manning. One has a ring already and is a sure lock in first ballot Hall of Famer. The other has just recently emerged in the Super Star spotlight but still leads his team better then anyone.
People all over the country are chanting “Who Dat!” in favor of the Saints. They have a good reason to cheer as this is the Saints first Super Bowl ever since their existence back in the 60’s.
The other people in the country are going to be sitting back and going to let Manning strut his stuff like he does.

Of course, this year Manning hasn’t done it all himself this year. He has emerging star Austin Collie as a receiver and the Colts have one-hell-of-a defense that is vastly underrated. Here is a little question for you. Name a offensive lineman on the Saints. You can’t can you? Now name the two powerful defensive ends on the Colts. Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeny, easy to name. Freeny and Mathis will tear up the line of the Saints and cause Brees to stay out of rhythm. The Colts’ offense will do what they need to do and they will do what they have been doing all year and that is score points and win games.
It would be cool to see the Saints win but I just don;t think it will happen. The Colts are too good.

I guess I would have to cheer for the underdog.
I think you may be right, though it depends on which New Orleans Saints team shows up. They seem to have a few different identities this year.
Lame.
An offensive linemen? Like.. the ones that made the pro-bowl? Evans is arguably the best G in the business.. If Nicks keeps up his play next year he will make the pro-bowl.. and Stinchcomb (RT) and Goodwin (C) made the PB as well. There’s 3 that at least some people have heard of.. and a fourth that people will begin hearing about very soon if he keeps playing like he is. The Saints have had one of the best O lines in the game the past few seasons.. and they dont need “big name” players to do so. Those names will be big soon enough and perhaps you will get to know them better yourself.
The Colts haven’t played a team like the Saints yet but the Saints have played a team similar (not better) in talent to the Colts in the Vikes. And the Vikings probably have a better D than the Colts. Add in that Freeney may not be his usual self due to his ankle.. and that pass rush might not be what you think it is come Sunday.
Perhaps you should do some research and add some knowledge to your articles in the future rather than just filling a page to meet a deadline.
I have to steadfastly disagree with your article.
First, can’t name two Saints offensive linemen? How about Pro Bowlers Jahri Evans, Gaurd (a 4th round pick from Bloomsburg) and RT Jon Stinchcomb. Both were drafted in 2006. Saints starting left tackel Jammal Brown (a Pro Bowler in many years) has been on IR all season, however, LT Jermon Bushrod has played adequetly in his place.
Second, the Minnesota Vikings have a better D than Indy does. And the Saints managed 31 points against them. I know Minnesota did turn the ball over a great deal, but none of those turnovers occured deep in Minnesota territory giving the Saints a short field. Brees took the Saints offense right down the field on the first two drives of the game against a very good Viking defense. Dwight Freeny will probably not play in this game, leaving just Mathis to rush Brees. Saints can double team him to neautralize that.
Drew Brees had good numbers against Minnesota, three touchdowns with no interceptions for 197 yards and a passer rating of 106.5. But those passing yards were low for Brees, who was noticably off against Minnesota. He missed at least four throws to open reciever that would have been gains of at least 10 on each. He could have easily had an addtional 50-75 yards passing had he connected on the throws he missed, which like I said, is out of the norm for an elite quaterback like Brees.
I don’t think that Indy’s defense will be able to stop the Saints offense, which was best held back by the Jets in week 4 when the Saints had just one offensive touchdown. I believe the Saints will be able to move the ball consistantly against the Colts defense and put the ball in the end zone. I don’t see the Saints scoring under 24 in this game.
New Orleans has played their best in big games this year. The Gaints were 5-0 heading into their week 6 game at New Orleans where the Saints throttled them. The New England Patriots, a Divisional winner, headed into the Dome on a Monday night and were promptly ran out of the stadium in a 38-17 beating in which Bellicheck went for it on fourth down in Saints territory on the first drive of the game because he knew field goals weren’t going to be good enough. New England could not even slow down Brees, who had a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in the game. Against an Arizona team with a great offense and not-so-great defense, the Saints put up 41 points will yielding just 14 with one of those coming on the first play of the game on a long run.
The Saints defense’s speciality is in the red zone and forcing turnovers. The Saints led the NFL in turnovers forced during the regular season. Against Minnesota, the Saints intercepted Brett Favre twice and recovered three fumbles, forcing six in the game. Manning will be much more difficult to intercept than Favre, but I look for the Saints to stay in the plus side of the turnover battle in this one as Brees and the offense rarely give the ball away. I think that is a key to the game.
Indianapolis’ running game was last in the NFL during the regualr season, averaging only 80 yards a game. The Saints were 6th in the NFL averaging 131 yards on the ground-and that’s on what people like to call a “passing team”. So the Saints offense is very balanced and can beat you in a varitey of ways with the weapons at Brees’ disposal.
I think this will be a classic, with the Saints holding on late to win their first Super Bowl 38-31.
I hope so at least.
WHO DAT!!?!?!
It doesn’t matter if you have heard of linemen or anything! Whether someone’s name is a household name! What matter is if they are good players! Three of our OL made the pro bowl! Look at the NFC Championship! How many times was Drew Brees hit! The Vikings have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL (http://www.nfl.com/fantasy/story?id=09000d5d80fe4afe&template=no-right-rail-with-comments&confirm=true) The Colts aren’t even in the top 15! And 2 players doesn’t make a defense! The only other person on the defense that I recognize is Phillip wheeler, only because i heavily followed the draft that year. True, I was born and raised a Who Dat, so my opinion is biased, but this is biased towards the colts. I think you should do a little research before you wrote this.
Nice article and if you viewers liked this one, you’ll probably enjoy this one too
