Rowan’s NFL Power Rankings – Week Nine
Which teams are the most on form?

- New Orleans Saints – Who can argue against this? The saints are still unbeaten and their more consistent defense causes them to pip the Colts.
- Indianapolis Colts – They could be top although I still think they can improve their defense, the return of Sanders will help this.
- New England Patriots – Although they have just played two winless teams, the bye week will show Brady and co. in their 2007 form.
- Minnesota Vikings – They have all the makings to go all the way to the superbowl, and who doesn’t like old man Favre?
- Denver Broncos – Although they faced their first loss, I still think the Broncos will evade the losing streak that knocked them out the playoffs last year.
- Philadelphia Eagles – Improving every week after a slow start, and have replaced the Giants as my predicted winners of the NFC East.
- Pittsburgh Steelers – Last years champions are back on track and will again be superbowl contenders if they can overcome conference rivals in the playoffs.
- New York Giants – The giants fall is due to the three consecutive losses, they are now fighting for top spot in their division.
- Dallas Cowboys – Their recent form causes their rise in the power rankings with convincing wins over Seattle and Atlanta. Miles Austin looks like the real deal.
- Atlanta Falcons – Overshadowed by the saints in the division but their losing streak will be reversed with an easy schedule.
- Baltimore Ravens – Look for the ravens to rise next week after conquering the Broncos after a tough few defeats.
- Green Bay Packers – Aaron Rodgers showed he will be the leader of the packers for years to come despite the loss to Favre.
- Arizona Cardinals – Bit inconsistent although still favorites to be the divisional champions unless Alex Smith and the 49ers can prove their worth.
- Cincinnati Bengals – Should be stronger after the bye week and need to continue to win against divisional rivals to contend for the divisional title.
- Chicago Bears – Solid win over the browns to end the week and Cutler should keep improving.
- Miami Dolphins – Could be higher in this rankings, although 21 of their points against the jets did come from the special teams and defense.
- Houston Texans – Improved a lot from last season, with their best start ever although the season ending injury to Owen Daniels could prove costly.
- San Diego Chargers – Still yet to prove their true potential. Need to start winning if they are to make the pre-season.
- San Francisco 49ers – With Frank Gore back in the team and the rejuvenated Alex Smith, this team has the chance to win the division back from Arizona.
- New York Jets – Bit up and down at the moment, were a bit unlucky against the Dolphins who they will be facing for a possible wild card place.
- Tennessee Titans – Although they have only won one game, this should be the first of many and Vince Young looks better than Collins.
- Jacksonville Jaguars – Tough loss to the titans, this puts the Jaguars in a position for another mediocre season.
- Carolina Panthers – Good win against the Cardinals, so long as Delhomme does not turn the ball over this team will always do well.
- Buffalo Bills – Defensive rookie sensation, Bryd, is the favorite for the defensive rookie of the year with 7 interceptions.
- Seattle Seahawks – Disappointing loss to the cowboys. The Seahawks need to find more consistency if they are to get back in the division race.
- Washington Redskins – Jim Zorn should be fired soon, with one of the most talented teams he needs to produce wins.
- Oakland Raiders – Although Russel isn’t looking great the defense is playing reasonably well and they do have 2 surprising wins.
- Kansas City Chiefs – Pretty unproductive season for the chiefs who should have one eye on the draft to make next year the one that counts.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sorry couldn’t put my team as last, where they probably should be. Its time for the Bucs to look which players they could draft in 2010.
- St. Louis Rams – I have placed the rams above the Lions purely because of their win, although both teams are bad as each other.
- Detroit Lions – Maybe next year for the lions, when Stafford should be a much better quarterback.
- Cleveland Browns – Another poor season for the browns. Is Anderson really the answer at QB? And is Mangini really the coach for the future?
