Who are the best quarterbacks in the league for the 2009-2010 season? I have listed what I consider to be the top 10 QB’s in the league right now. As you will see, every team on the list is almost always in the playoffs so getting a good QB is paramount for success in the NFL these days. Here are my rankings:
- Peyton Manning — I know I will get some heat here taking Peyton before Brady but for over 10 years he has proved he is the best performer. If Manning can stay healthy he is going to end up breaking every important QB record. He got his ring but should end up with another one before he is done.
- Tom Brady– How can you argue with three superbowl rings? Brady has proven he can win big games and can do it repeatedly. This year he is entering the season healthy and should return to his previous winning ways in short order.
- Ben Roethlisburger – Has proven he can win the big game and has silenced critics along the way. This season really looks promising once again because of weak division.
- Matt Ryan– I don’t think Matt will have a problem handling the sophomore jinx this year. He has tons of talent and should get better each year. The rest of the league should watch out as this could be another steller season.
- Drew Brees — This guy gets more passing yards every year he plays. Very consistent every year and should end up with another 4,000 yard season this year. He does need to get his team in the playoffs more often and win more important games.
- Carson Palmer – I am probably giving Carson a higher ranking than most people agree with, but I am a Bengals fan (yes, they do have fans!) and I think he will have a decent year coming off his shoulder injury. Expect the passing game to find life again in Cincinnatti.
- Donovan McNabb – This guy has taken his team consistently to the playoffs year in and year out. Not being able to win the big game is major criticism.
- Brett Favre — If he plays this year which seems likely he should get back to playoffs with Minnesota. QB record holder in numerous categories but is prone to interceptions which can be costly for playoff run.
- Jay Cutler– Will Jay turn out to be Chicago’s franchise QB? He had a decent year but was prone for interceptions too many times in critical games. If he can clean this up, he has the talent to be one of the elite in QB’s.
- Kurt Warner – Had a very good year last season. Can he keep this rolling this year? Even though he is getting up there in age, last year he showed he can still perform.
- Philip Rivers — Had a very good year last season but needs to have more seasons like it to move up in rankings
- Matt Hasselback – Returning from injury shouldn’t hamper Matt this year. Look for him to get back into form within a few games into the season this year.
- Matt Cassel -- Now the real test starts. Can he perform on a weak team as he did with the Patriots last year?
- Jamarcus Russell – Has tons of talent but will he develop into a top QB?
- Tony Romo– Decision making really needs to improve. Loss of TO could be blessing though for Romo this year.
- Mark Stafford – Can he win at least one game for the lions?
- Mark Sanchez – The jets have not had a franchise QB since Namath! Could Sanchez be the long awaited savior?
Please feel free to provide all comments and disagreements but be professional………Thanks.

I think Drew Brees needs to be third on your list. Well, at least third. Maybe second, if Brady were in first. Brees is the fantasy go-to guy!
Im glad to see the top 3 the way u put them…good list
Last I checked Sam Bradford is still in college.
I dont see Matt Schaub on this list but I do see Mark Sanchez who hasn’t taken an NFL snap and might not be a starter come week 1. This list is 100% fail.
Yea i agree with little, i mean why would you have big ben at 3 he has won superbowls but that team is carried by its defense he is not a good fantasy quarterback.
Another thing too. why don’t you have aaron rodgers on that list i mean he was after all rated 5th best for passing yards in the 2008-2009 season and it was his first season starting. think before you post somthing as dumb as this list
Agreed, Jdrage (and not solely because I’m a Packer fan). Also, what’s up with JaMarcus Russell even making the list? I think Brees and Rivers are higher on the list and McNabb and Ryan are lower.
