These are the best WR’s available in the upcoming NFL draft. Ratings based upon size, speed and college stats.
Calvin Johnson – 6‘-5” 230 lbs, 40.35 speed. Scored 28 TD’s in 3 years at Georgia, with 178 receptions for 2,927 yards at a 16.4 yard average. Has everything you want in a wide out. Size, speed and athleticism. Should be a star receiver in the NFL.
Robert Meacham – 6’-2” 214 lbs, 40.39 speed. Caught 17 TD’s in 3 seasons at Tennessee, with 125 receptions for 2,140 yards at a 17.1 yard average. Has the size and speed to play in the pros, and his yards per catch in college was very good. Hinting of big plays in the pros.
Laurent Robinson – 6’-2” 199 lbs, 4.38 speed. Caught 29 TD’s in college, with 192 receptions for 3,007 yards at a 15.7 yard average. Another WR with the size and speed to play in the NFL. Knock is that he played college ball at Illinois St. and not for a big conference.
Jason Hill – 6’-½” 204 lbs, 4.32 speed. Caught 32 TD’s in 4 years at Washington St., with 148 receptions for 2,704 yards at a 18.3 yard average. Blazing speed translated into great yards per catch average in college. Did not have a great senior season, but looks like he has all the physical tools.
Sidney Rice – 6’-3” 200 lbs, 4.51 speed. Caught 23 TD’s in two years at South Carolina, with 142 receptions for 2,233 yards at a 15.7 yard average. Speed looks average, but he’s big and his yards per catch is pretty good. He either doesn’t time well or he’s elusive. Should be a good to great pro.
Ted Ginn Jr. – 5’-11” 178 lbs, 4.30 speed. Caught 15 TD’s in 3 years at Ohio St., with 135 receptions for 1,943 yards at a 14.4 yard average. Blazing speed, but why wasn’t his average per catch better?
Dwayne Jarrett – 6’-4” 219 lbs, 4.62 speed. Caught 41 TD’s in 3 years at USC, with 216 receptions for 3,138 yards at a 14.5 yard average. Speed not that great, but very productive and big. Should be a terror in the red zone.
Dwayne Bowe – 6’-2” 221 lbs, 4.50 speed. Caught 26 TD’s in 4 years at LSU, with 154 receptions for 2,403 yards at a 15.6 yard average. Great size, average speed. You wonder how much of his production is due to Jamarcus Russell chucking him the ball.
Craig Davis – 6’-1 ½” 207 lbs, 4.46 speed. Caught 7 TD’s at LSU, with 141 receptions for 2,117 yards at a 15.0 yard average. Has size and decent speed, but like teammate Bowe, you wonder how much of his production was from catching passes from Jamarcus Russell.
Steve Smith – 6’ 197 lbs, 4.44 speed. Caught 22 TD’s at USC, with 190 receptions for 3,019 yards with a 15.9 yard average. Good speed and good size. Stats helped by playing alongside some great teammates.
Johnnie Lee Higgins – 5’ 11 ½” 186 lbs, 4.52 speed. Caught 32 TD’s at UTEP, with 190 receptions for 3,218 yards at a 17.0 yard average. Speed not that great, but his numbers are.
Brandon Myles – 6’ 189 lbs, 4.41 speed. Caught 13 TD’s at West Virginia, with 76 receptions for 1,196 yards at a 15.7 yard average. Size, speed and production in college points him out.
Yamon Figures – 5’ 11” 174 lbs, 4.30 speed. Caught 6 TD’s at Kansas St., with 73 receptions for 1,144 yards at a 15.7 yard average. Blazing speed points him out. Has beaten Devin Hester in a race.
D’Juan Woods – 6’ ½” 208 lbs, 4.60 speed. Caught 20 TD’s at Oklahoma St., with 163 receptions for 2,751 yards at a 16.9 yard average. Speed doesn’t appear to be that great, but his yards per catch is. Could be a decent pro.
Jonathan Holland – 6’ 197 lbs, 4.45 speed. Caught 6 TD’s at Louisiana Tech, with 85 receptions for 1,426 yards at a 16.8 yard average. Decent size, and his yards per catch point him out as a sleeper.
