If you play fantasy football you must pay some attention to the running backs who will be selected in the NFL draft on April 28. Here’s a list of the running backs most likely to have a fantasy impact in 2007.
Adrian Peterson – 6‘-1 ½” 217 lbs, 4.40 speed, scored 42 TD’s in 3 years at Oklahoma, while rushing for 4,054 yards at a 5.4 yard average. Has the size, speed and stats to be a star and make a big impact as a rookie. Injury problems are the only question mark. Be interesting to see where he lands. Could have a huge impact in 2007 if he lands with the right team.
Marshawn Lynch – 5’-11” 215 lbs, 4.46 speed, scored 35 TD’s including 6 receiving in 3 years at California, while rushing for 3,230 yards at an impressive 6.6 average. Not as big or as fast as Peterson, he still has all the skills necessary to make an impact in 2007. That rushing average points him out as someone to watch.
Michael Bush – 6’-1 ½” 243 lbs, 4.62 speed, scored 41 TD’s in 4 years at Louisville, while rushing for 2,508 yards at a 5.8 yard average. Missed most of his senior year with a broken leg. If he’s fully recovered he has the size and elusiveness to make a fantasy impact in 2007.
Antonio Pittman – 5’-10 ½” 207 lbs, 4.40 speed, scored 22 TD’s in 3 years at Ohio St., while rushing for 2,945 yards at a 5.3 yard average. Has the speed to make an impact in 2007 if he gets the playing time.
Tony Hunt – 6’-1 ½” 233 lbs, 4.54 speed, scored 28 TD’s in 4 years at Penn St., while rushing for 3,320 yards at a 5.1 yard average. Has the size to make an impact in 2007.
Kenny Irons – 5’-10 ½” 203 lbs, 4.45 speed, scored 19 TD’s in college in 4 years, while rushing for 2,438 yards at a 4.7 yard average. Not as big or fast as the top runners, he still has the talent to make an impact in 2007.
Jackie Battle – 6’-2” 235 lbs, 4.42 speed, scored 31 TD’s in 4 years at Houston, while rushing for 2,120 yards at a 4.8 yard average. Being projected as a fullback on the pro level, he has the size and speed to make an impact in 2007 if he gets the playing time.
Garrett Wolfe – 5’-7 ½” 186 lbs, 4.39 speed, scored 57 TD’s in 3 years at Northern Illinois, while rushing for 5,164 yards at a 6.4 yard average. Also caught 58 passes for 588 yards at a 10.0 yard average. Probably too small to be an every down back, he has all the makings of a 3rd down scat back, return man. Think of Dave Meggett or Kevin Faulk. His yards per rush, speed, and 57 TD’s in college are just too good to ignore
Sleeper RB
Justice Hairston – 6’ 232 lbs, 4.50 speed, scored 20 TD’s last season at Central Connecticut State, while rushing for 1,847 yards at a 6.7 yard average. Transferred from Rutgers and had an outstanding year last year against inferior competition. Has the speed and size to play in the NFL and is impressing the scouts in the workouts. Outside shot to have an impact in 2007 if he gets playing time.
