The 2010-11 season has seen plenty of surprises. The list of teams could be those that would be either really good or really bad depending upon the expectation level.

The NFL season has to have what would be considered some surprises.  There are some teams that every single season seems to come about surprising the majority of people.  When looking at it, there are two types being surprisingly good and surprisingly bad.  In other words, it comes down to what is being looked upon as necessary.

The most disappointing franchise for the season has to be the Indianapolis Colts.  The main thought would be looking at the record directly.  Granted, injuries have happened but that is still no excuse as to why they have yet to be able to go about competing this season.  Injuries happen to teams and can be looked upon as a reason but still, it isn’t good.  To think, last season they were in the Super Bowl.

The entire NFC West would have to be labeled as such.  It was expected to see a few bad teams but a whole division is just a complete disappointment in itself.  Sad to think that a .500 record could win that division but it is what it is.  It isn’t against the rules as a division winner gets in.  There will always be teams that probably could have gotten in had they been in that particular division.  While it isn’t a heavy division and winnable one, it has to be considered a huge shock to say the least.

Dallas would have to be the shock of the NFC East.  They were expected to be contenders but instead became pretenders.  Wade Phillips got fired and in came Jason Garrett and the Cowboys so far have won some games as of late.  Perhaps it could be playing for a contract or to keep Garrett as the guy.  Tony Romo has been out and since they put Kitna in, shockingly has won some games.  Regardless, they have not done a good job.

Cincinnati has to be considered a complete shock considering the streak they are on.  It is as if they had given up and not even bothered trying.  The Bengals were expected to be a contender but the team proves that they are one of the single most frustrating teams to figure out.

There have been others but to list them all would be difficult.  In spite of that, however, there have been a few surprise teams that have been better than expectations.

Jacksonville has been better than anticipated.  In fact, they could very well wind up making the playoffs provided that they hold on and do not fall down and start losing some games.  They have been one of those teams that have been hard to figure out but have been better than last year that is for sure.

Kansas City is a surprise and so would Oakland because these two teams are in the middle of the race of the AFC West.  Neither team is going to make it as a wild card.  It is going to be a divisional race and a fight to the finish to see what will happen from this point forward.

Overall, the season has been full of surprises but that’s to be expected every single season.  There are going to be teams that are going to be good when they are not expected to be and vice versa.  It is the best thing about the NFL is that it can be hard to figure out the divisions each and every season.
