Michael Vick: Welcome in Philly?
The most famous animal abuser has done his time and is now trying to go back to his old job as an NFL player. Many people accept that he was punished and understand he can be given a second chance. Others are not so forgiving and wish he would suffer at the jaws of canines! Where do you stand?

Frankly it is unfathomable to realize the amount of animal abusers and dog fighting rings there are. I have a friend that is a police officer and he tells me of dog fighting and chicken fighting busts a few times a year. And he knows this is going on all over the country.
Sadly and embarrassingly the Vick story shed a misleading light on this heinous behavior. The media subtly and not so subtly implied this plague was a cultural or aka “black things”. According to the arrests and people in law enforcement this crosses all racial divides and ethnic backgrounds.
In fact the driving force is gambling! Do you have any idea the money behind all of this? It is staggering. Not too mention the drugs and alcohol that goes with it. The vicious cruelty and brutal inhumane treatment of animals is unprecedented in the operation of these blights and corrosive scourges of society.
In this regard why then is Michael Vick the poster boy? Well there is no denying his involvement and his guilt for one. However, I think that blurs the point. This problem is much bigger than Vick and if we don’t see that it will never stop. My point?
All of you out there who want to obsess on punishing Vick for all of eternity are focused on the wrong problem. His impact of animals is irrelevant now. He was punished for it already. The authorities should be aware of what he is up to in regard to animals from now on. If he were to do it again he will be caught, end of story. You need to move on from the past. The problem is still out there and it has nothing to do with Vick.
This is a reality not a defense of Michael Vick. If you continue to campaign against him who is going after the present offenders? Really what are you really interested in? Stopping the evil or getting revenge?
Frankly I have an even bigger concern. The most disturbing development of all of this is the unstable and unbalanced regard for dogs over and above humanity!
Don’t get me wrong a I love dogs but I love humans also! For example I have an enormous problem with Dante Stallworth only receiving 30 days in jail for DUI manslaughter. That is absurd. Michael Vick spent basically 2 years for racketeering and cruelty to animals and Stallworth drinks, drives and kills A MAN and gets 30 days?
And no one is screaming about this! Yes you obsessive dog lovers ares more worried about Vick playing football than drunk drivers killing your fellow man. Why is that?
Because that hits too close to home for too many of us. Yeah many of you are hypocrites. Because you drink and get behind a wheel also. That is pathetic and shameless.
Yes some of you are more concerned about your dog than your neighbor, the kid down the street, the guy at the shop, the lady who drives your kids to school and so on. That’s great. Let’s save all the dogs and forget the people.
Look around you for once, how many times do you hear of people doing real time or suffering real consequences for drinking, driving, and killing someone? That is what we should be angry about.
The fact that a man or woman does more time for crimes against dogs compared to humans is unthinkable and yet a reality.
Bluntly speaking, who cares that the NFL is letting Vick play. That is their business. IF you have a personal problem with it, don’t watch or support the league in any way. But don’t you dare drink and drive!
