Former San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots linebacker and future hall of famer Junior Seau was found dead in his Oceanside, California home this morning, according to TMZ’s reports and statements by various law enforcement agencies.
Seau, a 12-time Pro Bowler and 6-time First-Team All-Pro, played college football at USC. He played with the San Diego Charger, Miami Dolphins, and the New England Patriots. In New England’s perfect regular season of 2007, he played in all 16 games. Seau first retired after that season, only to come back and play in 2008 and 2009 before finally leaving the NFL for good.
No details have been released as of yet, but as stated, various law enforcement agencies are involved; police are at his his home as of 3pm eastern time.
Junior Seau is survived by his wife and 3 children, and will be remembered as one of the truly classy indiviuals in the world of sports. In an era of spoiled rich punks with 7 figure salaries, Junior Seau was one man who conducted himself with dignity both on and off the field; a true role model.
