Is Michael Vick The Missing Link to Get The Philadelphia Eagles Back to The Super Bowl?

I think so……….

The Eagles and Michael Vick will have a great season barring injury. The first thing I want to address is that Michael Vick will not be playing quarterback for the Eagles. He will participate in option packages however. I love the way Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid is playing it down with the media, much as coach Bill Belichick  of the New England Patriots does.
Belichick is a master of getting into his opponent’s mind for the week ahead.

Andy Reid is down playing the significance of the signing of Michael Vick acting as if he’s going to be a backup National Football League quarterback. Not hardly in my opinion. Vick was  substandard as a backup in my opinion at the NFL professional level. He runs when he shouldn’t. He takes chances when he sees a self gratifying situation.
He has a 53.8ck% completion ratio and 71 touchdown passes against 52 interceptions. He is a bad decision maker and a detriment to a team if he has the ball in his hands as the signal caller. I would have benched him long ago.

Donovan McNabb, on the other hand is a very skilled quarterback who has taken his team to five National Football Conference Championship title games and one Super bowl, he runs out of necessity. He is very accurate down field and in comparison has 194 touchdowns to90 interception ratio and 29,320 yards passing in 10 years.
Vicks total is 11,505 yards passing.

Watch this video of Donovan, all class with just enough flash.

This is where the fallacy ends and the fun begins. Vick will surely be incorporated in the ‘Wildcat’ offense as a slot back wideout or tailback/quarterback option.
I doubt his ability as the play caller but not the ridiculous athleticism he brings to a team; in fact he brings the Philadelphia Eagles to being one of the strongest contenders in the NFC.
He may line up over center or in a shotgun formation, but I assure you most likely McNabb will be in the backfield at some capacity as well.

You’ve got to watch this video, run Mike run; after this you’ll see what I’m talking about; this man was born to run. On the very last play you’ll see a flea flicker you’ll be seeing a lot this year.

You will see flea flickers, end arounds, snaps and runs, Donovan at 6’2” and 240/250 can legitimately line up at tight end and with Brian Westbrook back there at running back as well they will create serious confusion on the defensive side of the ball.
I just don’t see Vick lining up at tight end as he’s about 6’ tall and about 210 pounds.
Westbrook and McNabb alone can carve up a defense and Philly’s wide outs are underrated to begin with. Let’s not forget folks; McNabb can run too, he’s not your average QB, he’s a FOOTBALL PLAYER first.
The Big Ben/Philip Rivers type. He’ll take a shot or throw a block, though if I were Andy Reid I wouldn’t put his shoulder in that kind of jeopardy, but I would to sell the play action on a trick play.
Donovan can still run people, perhaps not like years gone but he still has serious wheels.

I believe we’ll see Vick as a punt returner or kickoff return man, perhaps even a nickel back, I guarantee you he won’t just be riding the pine.
He wasn’t picked up just to be a stooge, he may also be possible trade bait next season.
Andy Reid is a crafty devil and there was a lot of purpose in this move; just not what the general NFL fan sees. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for them and it just could be their year.
If Donovan did get hurt, I’m not so sure I’d want Vick as back up quarterback but I could live with it, he brings an awful lot to the table but he’s never going to be my starting QB, I’m not concerned over the dog fighting thing. I don’t in any way condone it it’s just something I’ve never seen and don’t know much about but the man while I won’t say has suffered enough he appears genuinely remorseful and if he does get the QB chance in Philly he better do what coach Reid says or he’ll be on that bench for sure.

I agree with you when you said “…he may also be possible trade
bait next season.” But this could also be the Eagles year.
    Great article. Keep sharing.

If Michael Vick helps the Eagles win a super bowl I will be totally bewildered. I expect the Eagles to gain a wild card spot in the playoffs as the Giants will take over the NFC east once again. Care to argue? Message me.

Hi Bo Jack, not a big sports fan anymore looks like you have another winner.

Take care. Your still a funny guy.

You have definitely waited to see how this thing panned out so far. I don’t generally care much for the man, but he is lesser evil than has been released to the field before. I am sure this will either be his opportunity for a great comeback story, or his greatest fall from grace. Good article!

Obviously I am not a Vick fan personally speaking, but he may do very well this season. I have to say BOO to the Eagles anyway. The Pats are the best. Great article though, bo. You should do one on a great quarterback next….Tom Brady perhaps? Pats are on now by the way. WATCH THEM!! :)

I know very little about sports. You would think with all the TV sports that go on in my house I would be an expert. I know a lot of people are upset with the Eagles for taking Vick on. Guess we’ll have to wait to see what happens.

Great Article Bo!!!! Oh gotta love the football! Yea baby. I personally think Michael Vick is a perfect fit for Philly. I mean Philly fan will probably be tossing puppies at him the first time he hits the field. I think he would be a starter on all but a few teams. His interceptions were not game killer screw ups, the falcons were a gambling high scoring team with him at the helm. I am sure if he had to go in at quarter back Reid would limit his mistakes. Mcnabb has been prone to tossing a few bad throws in his career also but I think In Philly’s system Vick would actually have far fewer interceptions as not as much emphasis is put on the gambling plays and Vick has the arm and accuracy to really make teams pay even as a drop back quarterback.

First of all, Shelly. Peyton Manning is a much better QB than Tom Brady and, in my not-so-humble opinion, the best ever. however, I picked the Eagles to lost the Super Bowl to the Pats before they got Vick. now, I hope they don’t make the playoffs. Sure, J-Mac is incredible, but hiring Vick shows that the NFL doesn’t care about what you’ve done as long as you have talent
