Normally, people think that the length of a field for football is always the same but actually, this length varies according to different formats of play. In this article, you will find information about some normally used dimensions and measurements of a football field. In different levels, there are different lengths of these fields. National Football League (NFL)

The length of the field is normally 120 yards in this level that is also called 360’. This length is also considered as the standard length of a football field. The width of the field is 53 and 1/3 yards that is also termed as 160’. After the field, there are end zones as well. Normally, these end zones are 10 yards deep. There is an end line border as well that is normally 6’. It shows that the end zone is completed. There are team benches as well that are placed in between 30 yard markers. Field numbers that are used to represent different figures are 6 inches in length and 4 inches in width. Just next to the side lines, there is a 6 inch restraining line in all NFL matches. Finally, there is a goal post in NFL games that is 18’, 6’’ in width and 10’ in length.

NCAA or College

Now we will discuss the football field dimensions for NCAA or College level football games. Remember, as described above, at different levels, there are different dimensions used for football fields.

The length of the field is 120 yards or 360’ and the width is normally 53, 1/3 yards or also called as 160’. It is similar to the dimensions of field used in NFL. When we talk about the end zone then it is 10 yards deep when it comes to NCAA. The border of end line is 6’ and the team benches are placed at a distance of good 30 yards from the border line. Field numbers have same dimensions and measurements as they have in NFL for your reference, let me quote these dimensions here. The length of field numbers is 6’ and the width is 4’. Just next to the side lines, there are 6’ restraining lines keeping non-players away from the football field. Finally, coming to the goal posts, there is no different in the measurement of goal posts used in NCAA and NFL.
