Gunslinger Favre Hangs ‘Em Up

Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre retired. Was it the right decision, though?

Brett Favre, one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, has retired at age 38 after a 17-season career. A three-time MVP, he had been playing spectacularly with the Packers, winning one Super Bowl, and seemed to be able to play for a few more seasons. However, it was the right choice for Brett Favre to retire a Packer. Everyone would agree that most of his game parts have been great, but practically he looked quite awful most of the time. He could still throw the ball through a brick wall, but the problem was where the ball went.

The fans always had hoped and looked for his wild throw to a receiver to change the momentum of the game, but it never really happened. His mighty, but old arm had nothing left but more interceptions as he was getting tired. He was still respected as a great green-and-yellow player by many young players and still seemed to be physically healthy enough to continue, but that is not enough. It is a fact that the 38-year-old gunslinger is not mentally able to withstand the rigors of the games. Therefore, it was a good decision to retire and he should keep waiting for his eligibility into the Hall of Fame.
