Brett Begins

Bret Favre begins again at New York, but will the former Packer show everyone why he’s worth the trouble?

First and foremost, I’m sure that you’re just as glad as I am that the whole Bret Favre ordeal is over.

Now I’ve been a big fan of the Packers Quarterback since they chop blocked the 49ers down to submission back in the 90s. I was a fan of Reggie White, a great minister and great player. However, the past couple of weeks have been disappointing needless to say.

When Bret decided he wanted to come back I was like, “Ok, that’s fine. Why not?” But then he came back in with demands to get his job back when the team had moved on.

He was the star of the team, the pride of Green Bay…why not?

But as time went on, you could clearly see that people were just ready to do just that…move on. In the nicest way possible, that meant out with the old and in with the new…did anyone catch that? Probably not.

Even though now more than ever, the chances of the Green Bay fans turning on the team is high, and the new quarterback has to show on the field all the reasons to why they let Bret go and didn’t give him back his job.

Good luck with that.

So on to New York. In a funny way, Bret almost looks like he fits with that team so we’ll see what happens. And oh yeah, for those keeping score, that teams quarter back series has been close to ouch.

Eighteen different New York Jets quarterbacks took the field since Brett Favre began his streak of 253 regular-season starts for the Green Bay Packers, beginning in Week 4 of 1992. (Yahoo! Sports Staff)

And for New York Jets fans, all 18 quarterbacks don’t even come close to Bret’s stats. They may come if you added them all up but that’s about it.

Bret’s return was kinda like “Batman Begins” in a weird way. That fantastic series gives us all a psychological profile of the Dark Knight like we’ve never seen him before. While Bret’s comeback has become that of a soap opera, we got a chance to also see the real Bret Favre. You know, the person that you hide on a daily basis when others are not around and what I saw was a demanding, arrogant, “not in it for the team but myself even though I cried last year when I retired” type of guy…not impressed.

So in closing, I say go Jets, and I’m going to call it-they’ll get to the playoffs if they can get their short game going and the run because their run has always been a little on the small side
