Ben Roethlisberger Traded To Rams For Top Pick In Draft!

guess the steelers had enough.

When I first heard that Santonio Holmes had been traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the New York Jets,  I was a bit perplexed.  Not for the Jets; Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes as bookends sounds pretty impressive, actually.  Mark Sanchez has got to be wetting himself in excitement at this point.

But what were the Steelers thinking?  This is a very good, and possibly soon to be great wide receiver.  Yeah, he’s got baggage.  So what?  There are alot of *ssholes in the NFL.  You don’t trade a guy for being and idiot, and if you do, you get something of consequence for him.  The Steelers didn’t.

Was that baggage all that bad?  Is this new found conscience a serious gesture?  What’s next?  Gonna cut your quarterback?  Lord knows Ben Roethlisberger is looking like a guy with some character issues lately.  Gonna send him packing?

When I heard the Pittsburgh Steelers did exactly that while listening to ESPN radio tonight, it became perfectly clear what’s going on in the Steel city.  Sending Ben Roethlisberger to the St. Louis Rams for the top pick in this year’s NFL Draft (which the Steelers are expected to use to select Sam Bradford) is an unfathomable gamble for a Super Bowl contender.  But for a rebuilding team….

Willie Parker, gone.  Santonio Holmes, gone.  And now Ben Roethlisberger is out the door.  You have to figure this is a business decision, although for the life of me I can’t see the logic.  Or maybe the Pittsburgh Steelers front office just had a bit of a case of overreacting to last season’s collapse.

At any rate, settle in, Steelers fans.  Gonna be a long year.

I don’t know if this is true or not since i know your track record…haha But i do think that organizations are definitely sending a message to these athletes that this kind of behavior is no longer going to be tolerated regardless of their stardom. Good stuff.

Come on, if you’re going to make something up, at least make it believable.

I can tell you his track record, he is a liar that makes crap up. This isn’t the first time.

He also wrote this one on March 21st:

“At least some of the speculation is now over, and we can move on to the next stage of the dramatic process. Reports are that Ben Roethlisberger will surrender himself to Milledgeville, Georgia authorities formally on Monday and be charged with Sexual Assault stemming from an incident in a local club involving a 20 year old college girl.”

It hasn’t happened yet but he isn’t entirely off base. The Rams have offered the Steelers their first round picks this year and next.

The Steelers ARE thinking it over. Ed Bouchette himself reported it over the air today.

this would at least make things even more interesting. Pittsburgh is panicing if they trade him though. He still has good years left in him. They barely missed the playoffs last year and with a lockout coming, things probably won’t be ready to get back together until the 2012 season. But he’ll bounce back. Just look at Kobe Bryant. Dude, gets accused of sexual allegations in 2003 and 6 years later he’s won another championship. Back on top of the world again. It’ll take time, but time heals wounds and if the Steelers have patience things will ultimately work out in the end.

the Steelers are a no-nonsense organization that takes pride in just that. I think the Rooneys and Mike Tomlin have lost faith in Ben. I know hes a good player and has not been charged with anything but I think it would be good to get a fresh start with Sam Bradford and another first next year would mean another top 10 pick. As a Steeler fan, I still like Ben and always will but my Steelers would be dumb not to take this one, and i believe they will if this rumor is true

I’m a lifelong Steelers fan and 100% WELCOME this trade. Roethlisberger is a punk and doesn’t deserve to be a part top notch organization like Pittsburgh. As for the poster’s argument for Willie Parker and Santonio Holmes being gone – who cares?! The Steelers still have two quality RBs in Moore and Mendenhall and three quality WRs in Ward, Randel El, and Wallace.

I’m crossing my fingers that this comes true….

I hope Ben is traded to the Rams ,Bengals, Lions or even the Raiders. They all suck and will not win with or without Ben. The steelers may have a bad year, But thats ok, they will be back on top in no time. Ben, on the other hand needs to realize that he was the starting qb or one of the best football towns in the country. People still call Ray Lewis a killer to this day for what happened in Atlanta. Mike Vick will always be barked at in every stadium. And yes, Ben will never shake off this stink. Ben may be served well by playing in a stadium that is only half full. Asfor Santonio Holmes, I think he is going into the final year on his contract, and with a 4 game suspension to start things off the steelers actually made a good move here. Holmes would have tryed to cash in somewhere else anyway.
