BCS Playoff?
We are in need of a playoff for college football.

With the college football season coming to a close, the same question comes to peoples minds, “Why not a BCS playoff?”. These were the words that came out of the newly elected President Obama. Yes, many say that the playoff would drag the season out too long, but really the longer the season the more money these schools make. Many sports analyst say that a playoff will come in the future, but not for a long time. Well why not now? The U.S. is in an era of change, Mr. Obama’s motto was “We need change.” Many of the people who hold the decision to make a playoff for college football are stuck in the old age of sports. The number one team shouldn’t rely on one game between two teams that are ranked by a computer. Rankings shouldn’t depend on how many points are scored by one team against another. Because many games can’t be viewed by just looking at who be who, and by how much. What if the winning team downed the ball the entire fourth quarter and still won 35-10. Or a team that didn’t play there starters for a game to let them rest, and ended up only winning by three points. With this playoff idea, we don’t want a 64-team playoff like NCAA basketball. But a top-12 team playoff would work, play it almost like the NFL playoff, take the winners of the major conferences, and eight teams with the best records as wild cards. This would make it fair to the teams who might not play in the hardest conference or have the hardest schedule(UTAH). Who says the only team that goes undefeated shouldn’t have a chance to play in the Championship. Or a team that lost one game during the season, and blowout Penn State in the Rose Bowl shouldn’t have that same chance to prove themselves #1. I can see why some people like the bowl games. They like to see all there teams get a chance to play for some big trophy that doesn’t mean much unless its the BCS Championship Trophy. Why make these teams play when it doesn’t prove much to anybody anyway. I like to see the competition of college football, and why not see it at its highest level with the top teams playing against each other. Well I would just like to end it saying maybe this time next year we will see a “change” and be able to watch the top teams getting a fair chance at taking that #1 spot.
