A Viking Again
Randy Moss may be returning home to the original team he started off with in his ‘98 rookie year.

So Randy Moss of the New England Patriots is a free agent now and of course there are a number of teams that interested in the opportunity of signing him. So what if Moss would return to the Minnesota Vikings who has a pretty good No. 2 receiver in Sydney Rice but are desperately in need of a No. 1 receiver well then the possibility would be endless. Moss has put up record breaking numbers in touchdowns this year looking better than ever with a total of 23 six more than his career high of 17 set in the 98 season were the Vikings went 15-1. The New England Patriots sort of mirrored the Minnesota Vikings both using a three set offense.
Now if Moss would return to the Vikings now they too would mirror the Vikings of old and with Adrian Peterson already being a home run hitter by himself the return of moss might break the glass. Just think currently the Vikings have no deep threat which means teams are able to stick eight guys in the box to defend the run. With Moss you’re vulnerable to get bombed down your throat in a cover 2 defense let alone stick eight in the box. This mirrors Robert Smith which played on the 98 team who was at running back on the team at the time. He helped balanced the game keeping defenses on their toes if you cover deep the Vikings would run or play the draw in which Smith’s speed allowed him to be successful. Peterson is a lot faster as well the play from the offensive line is just as good now as they were then if not arguably better. Comparison in defense would be that in the 98 season the Vikings allowed 296 points a 18.5 average which put them 6th in the nil.
This year they ranked 12th with 311 points allowed as you can see not too much different. As well I think you can expect the defense to be better with rumors of a DE to be selected in the first round. This will help with the pass rush and hopefully cause more interceptions which the Vikings were able to put up eight scores last year off interceptions leaving the offense on the sidelines yep pick six’s. Expect that number go up next year! The return of Randy Moss would make him leaving worth it. It would have helped create a dynasty. Now I know when the Vikings parted ways with Randy Moss it may have left some bitterness in the air, but the Vikings don’t have the same owner or coach as then.
As well the completive nature that Moss has I am sure he feels there was still unfinished business in Minnesota. Winning a championship ring is still on his to do list. This would be huge for Vikings fans who don’t seem so excited to attend games anymore having problems selling tickets this year. Let’s face it when Moss left a part of the Viking spirit died, and for a second while in Oakland you could have said so did Moss but he has returned to the top of his game and maybe just maybe he still would like to retire a Viking!
