The Brockton Boxers took on the Boston College High School Eagles, in a showdown at Gillette stadium to see who would be crowned the Super Bowl Champion that year. The year had started short for the Boxers falling short to Dracut High and losing to Boston College 28-7. As the 0-2 record stood the Boxers took on the Taunton Tigers. As the Boxers strided past the Tigers the season looked hope full and the 28-0 win gave the men some hope. The week after the Boxers took on the Xaverian Hawks standing at 1-2. This game was another battle but the Boxers fell short once again. Standing at 0-3 the season looked dreadful from here. The Boxers had taken on ST. JOHNS PREP and deated all odds. The Prep ruled as the favorites got bombarded as they lost 28-13. The Boxers were just getting started though. With the season almost half way over, they still had a chance. In the next game against Fitchburg High School was a game were once again the Boxers were ruled as the underdogs. But once again they prevailed. The next game was the best game all of the regular season from my perspective. Brockton Boxers v.s. Pinkerton Academy.
This school was listed as number 1 as was Fitchburg and Dracut, but this game was a epic showdown as the Boxers skimmed there way by 28-27. As the Boxers stood still at 5-3 and were progressing week on and week on. The next week the took upon Durfee High. The Boxers soared past Durfee by winning 35-9. In the 9th week of the season the Boxers took on Leominster wich was another game were others felt the Boxers were underdogs, but YET AGAIN the Boxers prevailed for the victory and were heading towards the end of the season and playoff hopes. They had faced New Bedford next which whom they steamrolled them beating New Bedford by 21. And in the final week of the regular season the boxers took on Waltham. They had a close game with Waltham but nothing they couldn’t handle picking up yet another win. At the end of the season they stood at 8-3 and the “Big Three” Champions. The Boxers were in the playoffs and in the first week they hosted the UNDEFEATED Dartmouth High School. The Boxers once again the underdogs took the win and moved on to the Super Bowl.
Boston College High School start the season off with a thunderous victory over Brockton 28-0. In the next week the Eagles prepared to take on Andover a team with not much talent but not to be counted out. The Eagles had won 38-14 and looked like a wrecking force until they met Everett in week 5, where they lost 26-0. Even though the Eagles lost the battle the war was not over. With an outstanding 4-1 record the Eagles were confident in their games against Cambridge where they had won easily 42-13. In the last game of the season the Eagles faced Catholic Memorial and had beaten them and everyone else except for Everett and were heading on too the playoffs to face Everett again, but this time this game meant more than a record. The Eagles had a win at 9-0 and had moved on to the Super Bowl to face the Brockton Boxers.
The games score was 13-7. The Eagles had won the game after stopping the Boxers tremendous drive when it was 4th and 1. The Eagles had recognized the play in which the Boxers used before and had adjusted for it and made the stop. When the Eagles received the ball back they had a struck of luck. The running back had fumbled the ball and the football had traveled out of bounds. With the season over for the both teams the tears, sweat, and pride was all left at Gillette Stadium that night.
