     Iowa State was expected to be a bit better under first year coach Paul Rhodes, and the surpassed expectations.  A 7-6 record, a stunner over Nebraska and a bowl win over Minnesota will have Cyclones fans excited and ready for more. 

     But don’t get to far ahead of yourselves, guys.  There are too many teams in the Big 12 that are simply better, and while a bowl game is a legitimate possibility, anything more is a bit far fetched.

     Eight starters return on offense, including quarterback Austen Arnaud and Running back Alexander Robinson… the flip side being that the Iowa State offense was dismal at times.  There will be some improvement.  The defense lost most of its key components, and that could spell disaster with all of the high powered offenses in the Big 12.

     Overall, a .500 season is a realistic goal, but they need to win all of the games they’re supposed to; no room for error in 2010.
