Look at My Eyes
The design on the peacock feathers are like eyes staring at you. In many customs, it is sacred.

Peacock has always been fascinating to me. When the tail feathers are opened, it looks like many eyes staring at you. Unlike the king cobra whose eyes are designed to chase you away, the eyes of the peacock appears to welcome you.
The peacock is said to bring good luck. Based on Wikileaks, it representing benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and knowledge.
I had an opportunity to see a few up close in our recent trip to Sunway Lagoon.
Here is one that had its feathers (plumage) all spread out:

One of the things I learned was they could fly quite high. We were surprised to see it flying on the branches. Here is a picture of one on a high branch.

I am not sure whether it was seeking attention or warning us to keep away but from time to time it would make a very loud call.

The female does look as impressive but still beautiful:

When I see the number of peacock feathers sold, I wonder how many of these beautiful creatures are killed for the their feathers. It is sad that we keep killing creatures for their skin, feathers or whatever.
