The fly rod, a trout or salmon tactic. Not for much longer, lately ive been taking my 10ft fly rod with floating line to lakes, now i know alot already use it for carp, but some shun it, as my local pond did when i bagged up over 20lb in roach rudd and crucian using a fly rod, but some fisheries need to realise the fly rod is a great way to take coarse fish. You can maggot fish for roach or bread for the carp, simple flick it out amongts topping fish and its the fight of a lifetime.

A simple roll cast does the job, with a hooklength up to 4ft nothing massive and throw some floating bread in to spur the fish on, if your in the north east and would like a place to try this, visit catterick you can see shoals of atleast 60 carp at a time pass by you and i drop bread infront of one and a carp of 10lb will swipe it away instantly.
