Surf fishing is a wonderful way to relax, and get your hands on some nice frest saltwater fish.

I usually prefer catching stripped bass, blue fish, and blackfish. Surf fishing gives you a chance to sit back, and let the fish come to you. One of the nest places to fish is Montauk, New York in the fall. This is when the Stripers and Blues are leaving the Long Island Sound. During the summer time, Long island sound is a good place to fish for them too. A good 6-10 feet fishing rod with a 35+ pound line is good. For medium Strippers, a good Bonker or Makeral would be good. For a large Stripper, a spinner bait is good too. The minimum legal size for a stripped bass is 28 inches. for Blue Fish, they usually eat just about anything. There is no size restriction for them considering the fact that snappers (baby bluefish) are small.
There are a large variety of fish all along the coast.
