Chosing a Bike:

Before you start BMXing you must choose a bike. Please dont head out to walmart and buy a cheap tony hawk, mongoose, etc.  BMX bike, if you want to be a pro you need a light bike like under 30 pounds. This will allow you to get off the ground easier.  If you are on a budget $200 under i reccomend a diamondback or redline bike. These are usually durable and somewhat light. Avoid buying a bike with front breaks because in my opnion they just weigh you down. You also wont need pegs, Yet. If you can spend over $200 id head over to DANSCOMP.com and purchase one there. They have pro brands like FBM, Eastern, Kink, Subrosa, Verde, etc. These bikes are as light as 23 pounds! They also are durable and the best of the best.

Tuneing the Bike:

Now that your bike is put together i would reccomend triming the seat post about two inches to lose some weight, every ounce counts! I would also lower the seat as low as it can go so it will not be in the way, and take of the front break.

Learning Tricks:

WHEELIE: The First trick to bmx is the “Pop a Wheelie” this trick is very easy if you have the right form. First, stand on the pedals, do not sit on the seat, then swing your body back a couple times (this should help you practice taking presure off the front end of the bike) after practing thrusting back, began pulling up at the same time you thrust back. It should’nt take much time before you can pull up your tire about 3 or 4 inches.

ENDO aka FOOTJAM: The endo, also called footjam, is a very easy trick also if you do it right, your back tire will pop off the ground, this trick is kind of like a backwards wheelie. All you have to do is go at a slow speed and then jam your foot in between the wheel and fork of the bike. This should immoblize your front tire sending your back tire in the air. Be sure to not be going too fast or you will flip the bike over. If you are right footed then put your right foot inbetween the fork and tire or vice versa.

JHOP: The J-Hop is debated to be the easiest trick to get the bike off the ground. To do the J-Hop you must first have mastered the Wheelie. The motion of the J-hop is to pull up your front tire off the ground and your back tire following it so you are off the ground. First, get some speed then pull up your front end as you are pulling up your front end push foward on the handle bars so you your hands will be pulling and pushing at the same time. As you push foward make sure you release pressure off the pedals and you should be in the air.  This trick takes alot of practice to get higher.

These are some Basic Bike tricks to get you to the BMXer title. Happy Biking!
