Luck be ‘Another’ lady for the horses at Preakness

I’ll Have Another searches for Triple Crown greatness after spectacular victory at Preakness.

The Greek Goddess Nike shined her beauty once again upon the steed that is I’ll Have Another after the recent win at Preakness.  Now, the team has aimed for loftier goals to accomplish by capturing the coveted Triple Crown.

But what does it all mean? Why do minuscule, muscular men ride ponies for profit? Why haven’t actor Dustin Hoffman and the rest of the gang been bull whipped by the PETA pressure tank for beating up on innocent horses in the now defunct HBO series “Luck”?

Why do we jostle to events with floppy hats, seersucker suits, and Mississippi showboat caps? Is it the graceful combination of beast and man on display, working in tandem with a sinuous synergy that beckons an audience to whoop and wail at every treacherous trot?

Horse racing is a blood sport. Big dollars go ’round as hushed bets get called with a hand signal.  Still, hopes of winning it big at the track fall flat with anguished sighs.  We will see if I’ll Have Another and jockey have the ever important mixture of brain and brawn to pull off the unusual: three in a row.

God bless the dead and dying.
