A Turnaround for Bikes

There was a time before cars hit the road big time, when everyone, child and adult, biked everywhere. Apart from horse and cart, it was the best, simplest and most convenient way to get around. Then the motor vehicle appeared and the bike seemed to be more limited to children and young people of pre driving age, mooching about having fun. After several decades of the motor car, with soaring costs of fuel there has, in recent times, been a turnaround. More and more people are becoming bike and bike equipment enthusiasts. It’s now being given the real thumbs up from every generation. Biking is hot stuff and it’s cool.

Bike equipment is also not nearly as expensive as car equipment. To make a bicycle roadworthy is going to cost you a fraction of the cost. Maintenance is minimal and you can have super fun at the same time. Is t hardly any wonder that so many people have returned to the bike and see it as two exciting wheels, rather than old fashioned rust.

The other big new phenomena to have hit town of course is the exercise boom. This again has something to do with the invention of the car as a regular means of daily transport. After decades of sitting behind our wheels with the only movement on our legs being a small press on the pedals, people everywhere began to demand more movement. Suddenly exercise and health became energetic news. Bit by bit it began to dawn on people who were of car driving age that the bicycle could be a great way to enjoy fresh air and keep fit, without going off to the gym. You don’t have to go pounding down the roads fighting the flab, feeling breathless and exhausted with your run soon dropping to a slow wheezy ramble. With a bike you can go anywhere and you won’t look out of place meandering along, perhaps whistling a tune at leisure down a country lane, busy highways and byways or in the middle of a shopping centre.

Once you take to a bike, you son find you extend your enthusiasm to all kinds of biking equipment available which all adds to the fun. Go into any bicycle shop or online store and you will be met with a deluge of different accessories for any biking occasion. Get, fit, have fun and get the biking habit.
