Virender Sehwag: Blistering Batsman

Virender Sehwag is one of the world’s fastest and most tremendous players of Cricket. He is often compared to Sachin for his batting abilities, and is referred to as one of the best openers for the Indian cricket team. With his blistering starts he won many matches for India.

He was born on 20th October 1978 in Delhi to Krishan and Krishna. His father was a grain merchant. He spent his childhood in a bungalow with big family; which consists of siblings, uncles, aunts and sixteen cousins. He spent his school days in Arora Vidya School in Delhi. He is not academically gifted student. He started playing cricket in his school days. His family encouraged his ability.

Debut

He made his one day international cricket debut in 1999 versus Pakistan. In his opening match he scored only one run and went for 35 runs in his 3 over. He made his domestic debut for Delhi in 1997-98. He made his test cricket debut in 2001.

Role Model

He was inspired by the Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and adopted his aggressive batting style and ability.

Skipper

He captained Indian cricket team for 2 one day internationals and 1 test match. Currently he is the vice captain of the Indian cricket team. Everybody praises his brilliant cricketing brain.

Achievements

He is the only Indian Batsman to score a triple century in a test match. He has highest score by any Indian in test match cricket. He shares a record of scoring two triple centuries with Brian Lara and Don Bradman. He is the only player to score two triple century and taken five wicket haul in test match history. He scored his highest score 319 versus South Africa in Chennai in 2008. He has a record for scoring 11 consecutive 150 runs whenever he scores a century. He also holds the record for fastest triple century which come of 278 balls. So far he won 3 man of the series awards and 23 man of the match awards in both one day and test cricket.

    Sehwag, i am a big fan of him. Yes i agree with his blistering opening knocks India wins most of the matches.

    He is the only batsman to hit a triple century for india, we are proud of him. I wish all the best for hitting a double century in one day cricket.

    I agree with Pinky, as sehwag 30 years old. He hardly has a chance to retain the captainship.

    Why? When anil kumble got captainship when he was 36 yrs, why not sehwag. I think he still got many chance to retain the captainship after dhoni.
