The first semifinal match in the Champions Trophy Cricket was played on the 2, October, 2009, between Australia and England at Centurion ground, in South Africa.

Australia dominated the match throughout and thrashed England by nine wickets.England having won the toss chose to bat.It lost six wickets before reaching the score of 101.Thanks to a fine and flawless innings of 80 runs in 76 balls by an England batsman, a newcomer known as Bresnan along with Wright, whose 107 runs partnership for the seventh wicket helped England to cross 200 and reached a respectable total of 257 all out in 47.4 overs.Australian bowlers Johnson and Bret Lee fully exploited the damp pitch and almost skittled out England, but for the fighting innings of Bresnan.

Chasing the target of 258, Australia lost the early wicket of Paine at the score of 6.Then the Australian captain Ricky Ponting joined with his partner, Watson. Both of them scored an unbeaten century stretching the second wicket partnership to 252 runs; Ricky Ponting scored an unbeaten 136 not out and his partner Watson scored an unbeaten111 not out, both of them scoring at will and making the bowling attack of England a laughing stock.Australia took only 41.5 overs to chase the target. England’s frantic attempts to take the Australian wickets and check their scoring rate proved futile. Both Ricky Ponting and Watson batted superbly without any trouble whatsoever.

By winning the first semifinal match, Australia entered the final and plays the winner of the II semifinal match .

Pakistan meets New Zea land in the Second semifinal match tomorrow and an interesting match is on the card.

There is nothing to rave about this match. As predicted it was totally an one sided match. What else can happen especially when Aussies are playing. Their steadfast dominance in cricket is almost a bad publicity to the game. Unlike in soccer cricket is played by handfull of countries. This itself is bad for the game. And the constant dominance of one country out of these few countries is still worst. If this game has to be saved; be it a Test or an Onedayer other teams also should challenge these Aussies make this dying sport more challenging and exciting. Otherwise you\’ll continuesly see those empty stands. Who knows one day this great sport might vanish from the scene. Wake boys! don\’t allow only Aussies to dominate.
