Australian innings

Australia came on the field to bat first and they had a steady start but Shane Watson lost his wicket for 5 at an early stage of the Australian innings. Then Ricky Ponting came in who played a blinder of an innings and scored 74 of just 84 balls. Tim Paine the aussy wicket-keeper also played a very crucial role by making a half century.

After Ricky Ponting the onus onus of the Australian innings was on Cameron White and Michael Hussey. Michael hussy played a really great innings and eventually got out at 73 of just 54 balls. Cameron White made 51 of 68 balls to lead Australia to a great total of 292 for 8.

Indian innings

Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar gave India a very steady start but both of them could not bat for long and got out very soon. Then there was a steady partnership between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. Virat played some stunning shots and got out for 3o runs of 41 balls. Next Dhoni came in and played a good inning. Gautam Gambhir got out for a well played 68 of 85 balls. Soon Raina and Ravinder Jadeja came in. Now Dhoni and Suresh Raina got out and they were followed by the dismissal of Dhoni.

Now all hopes were drowned for the Indian team. Harbhajan and Pravin Kumar were there on the crease and they blasted off. The Indian score reached 285 for 8. After that India could not make more than 288 for 8 and India lost the match.
