Boat repair can be an expensive task. You need to be aware of the proper basic care of your boat propeller and require maintaining it in the right way. This will free you from spending any excessive amount on a mechanic. Therefore, this article guides you to repair the propeller of your boat yourself to help you in minimizing the cost too.

Step 1: Inspection of Propeller

Check the propeller blades for any bent parts. These are the signs of wear and tear that would give a signal for the replacement of the propeller. This might sound like a small problem but bends end up throwing off the proper function of the propeller can also cause some serious damage to the engine, by inappropriate acceleration.

Step 2: Reshaping of Propeller

If the propeller is damaged or spoiled after a heavy sail, then it requires some reshaping. The best way to perform this is by making a mold of the original propeller in a new condition where the blades are at their original angle and then utilize the mold as a guide, while reshaping the propeller. You should make sure to perform this molding work as soon as possible and never to leave it for later on.

Step 3: Center of Propeller

Right after the propeller is inspected, make sure that the center of the propeller is not losing its balance. If it is, then it needs to be given some serious attention. Your boat will not move forward at all, even if you hit the gas. Therefore, in order to resolve this problem, you need to remove the propeller from the boat and mark the end of the center and the propeller housing, keeping the marks in line with one another. Then, all you require to do is install the new propeller to check if the problem is fixed or no. If the marks made on the propeller are out of line, then the center of the propeller will definitely end up slipping.

Step 4: Balancing Your Propeller

This is one of the most important steps while repairing the propeller of the boat, but can be undertaken only by a professional technician. He or she needs to make sure if the propeller is balanced in the right manner or no and also needs to ensure that it is working properly and is free from all problems.

Step 5: Testing the Propeller

Last but not the least; the testing of the propeller needs to be done. The rubber bush of the propeller needs to be dry torque tested, as well as the exhaust ring for any damage. Make sure of all the parts that needs some repairing or some testing to be done, and then take them to a professional technician for the replacement if required.

These were the following steps for repairing the propeller of the boat. Lastly,if there are any damaged parts, then make sure to replace them by taking them to any technician for the repairing.
