The Nba’s All Star Joke: Proof That The NBA and Its Fans Suck

Maybe I’m just a little bit outdated. I grew up in the 80’s, watching first Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics against Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers, the the ‘Bad Boys’ (The Detroit Pistons) and Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. Four completely different teams.
The Celtics were as blue collar as it gets. The Lakers were showtime. The Pistons just beat you into submission. And the Bulls simply dominated. But these were great teams. And the players were great as well; as much as a part of these cohesive units as they were on their own based on pure talent.
But sadly, the game has changed. The players aren’t any less talented; in fact, I would say the exact opposite is true. But the concept of team has faded, and with it the quality of the NBA itself.
The problem, I think, is that the fan base is different. Maybe it’s because the younger generation has taken hold, and the priorities are different. The NBA fan of today wants Sportscenter in your face dunks. They want tattoos. They want attitude. I honestly don’t think Larry Bird would have been a star in today’s NBA. Nor would John Stockton, James Worthy, or Kareem Abdul Jabbar. All they did was play great basketball. Far too boring. Those guys had families, not guns in their locker and criminal records.
Today’s NBA Stars are arrogant, self centered, spoiled punks. Take a good look at LeBron. Has there ever been a more brash, more arrogant player? His skills are unquestionable, but is he a champion?
And the fans are the problem. They like the NBA the way it is. One on one basketball, few fundamentals. It’s all about the highlights. Today’s NBA fan is, in fact a basketball idiot. Need proof? Look at the All Star Voting.
NBA Eastern Conference All Star Starters
Dwight Howard
LeBron James
Kevin Garnett
Dwayne Wade
Allen Iverson
NBA Western Conference All Star Starters
Amar’e Stoudamire
Carmelo Anthony
Tim Duncan
Kobe Bryant
Steve Nash
What you see here in these selections is a few no brainers, and proof positive that the NBA fans are morons. Kevin Garnett is a shadow of his former self. 15 points per game in 30 minutes a game as a starting center? Come on. Meanwhile, a quiet kid named Chris Bosh is up in Toronto throwing in 24 points, 11 rebounds, almost 2 blocks, and virtually no turnovers every night.
And Allen Iverson. Someone please take one of the guns out of Gilbert Arenas’s locker and shoot me. Aside from that he quit earlier this year, and has always been the whiniest of the arrogant little punks, he’s averaging a career low 14 points a game. Meanwhile Rajon Rondo, hidden by the lights of the bigger names in Boston, is having an MVP caliber year. Iverson wouldn’t start on two thirds of the teams in the NBA, yet he’s starting the all star game.
It’s slightly better in the west, but the biggest sign of fan idiocy is here as well. Steve Nash is having the best year of his brilliant career. Up until just recently, he was trailing in votes to none other than Tracy McGrady, who has played a total of 45 minutes… all year. In six games.
It’s hard to blame the NBA for putting out a lackluster product when the main fan base is a pack of slack jawed morons who want to worship Gangsters, not basketball players. And I don’t see an end in sight. So if you want to tune in to this year’s All Star joke, feel free. I’ll find something more interesting to watch; I think ESPN Classic is airing a bowling tournament from 1978.

Nice information.
Nie articles and I like NBA a lot. Keep it up!
I would have to agree, but Duncan, Bryant and Nash are complete players.
In the east, Dwight howard get a not from me, and LeBron, while great, is more concerned with a highlight performance than a victory, IMO. I’m sorry Mo but what are those^^^ guys talking about?
You\’re a complete loser. Sorry, but you really are.
i love allen iverson so does alot of the other nba players
Me thinks you need to take a bit of a good hard look at what you’ve written here and take into consideration the following points. The All Star game is not about who is the best player at the time i.e. who’s putting up the best numbers. It’s about who the fans want to watch. Take AI, his numbers may be down this season but you are talking about a future HOFer who is still fun to watch, especially if he’s got Wade and Bron on his hip. I could argue the point for ever about who should play and why but at the end of the day the fans only get to pick the starters. No doubt Bosh and Rondo will get the call when it comes to finalising the line ups. As for your carry on regarding Lebron. I don’t know why people hate on him so much. As a player he conducts himself well on the court. I have no problem if he’s having a dance on the bench or whatever. I find his postgame interviews very mature and accurate, be it a win or a loss. I don’t know of any indiscretions off the court, by him. I heard he even threw a 100,000 into the hat for Haiti. Anyway my point is that you have really exposed yourself by going on the rant you have in writing this article. You might want to consider having a few beers or something. Cook up some popcorn or chicken wings, even better, get a bucket from KFC and chillax on Feb 14th in front of a good HD Screen and watch the ALL STAR GAME!!!

Great article
Whoever is caught with the most pot in their duffle bags will win. The losers get a date with the “white chicks” in the second row. Spot each team 110 points, and let them play the last two minutes of the game. Good article Mn.
Don’t you think you whine alot? Give those boys a break they have worked hard to be where they are. I still like Dwight Howard , He is a good role model and I also like Steve Nash because he is a good team player.
nice
You’re a bit whiny yourself. Those are pretty talented players but I agree there should be some spotlight on guys like Bosh.

NBA *sigh* where do I begin. It is a joke, not to bring race into anything but that’s what the NBA is a bunch of scandalous black kids with no daddies. I’m sorry but I hate the NBA more then any other sports league. Basketball is fun and exciting but not the NBA.
ok very good article btw but lets look at what u said so ur saying lebron doesnt deserve to go to all star like lebron is good and he makes any team looks good ur right about allen iverson but kevin garnnett i see him coming back soon and also i seen u didn’t say anything about kobe at least u know whats up about kobe
the only thing that I have to agree with you about is,how can people who have not played like Iverson,Megrady play in a allstar gane?
Unfortunately for your article sir, you lost credibility when you attempted to use Lebron James as the example of a bad egg within the NBA.
Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson or even Gilbert Arenas.. however Lebron James is one of the “team players” of old that you speak of. He has the talent to take the game over, but chooses instead to get his team mates involved in the game so that he isn’t the center of attention.
Nice post.
Thanks to share this one.
Pakize
,nice article very imformative..
Its about time somebody said it. Im still in highschool, but even I can see that the NBA has changed for the worse. It seems like the players and fans care more about 3-point shots and highlight dunks than the game itself. Also, the game has gotten extremely sloppy. Watch any NBA game and count how many traveling and carrying fouls go unpenalized. Alot.
Exactly Sports Man, the game today is idiotic, travels, double dribbles, call me a purist but basketball is still basketball how most of these idiots who even consider what they have as an “Opinion” is absolutely laughable.
Great article!
the chinese cant vote for yao, so they chose mcgrady instead lol.
a agree that fans vote for the players they want to see, but for f’sakes who wants to see iverson??!!! even the nba teams dont want him.
as for the game itself, its boring. if the players dont care, why should we.
