The NBA Needs to Give Seattle an Expansion Team

The artists formely known as the ” Seattle SuperSonics ” are now called the Oklahoma City Thunder . Good for Oklahoma City basketball fans , because they were loud and very supportive whenever the New Orleans Hornets used Oklahoma City as their second home after hurricane Katrina . But it was sad for Seattle fans , after 40 years of being in that city , so much tradition , winning the NBA title in the 1970s , plus many great players have played with this franchise over the years . For the owner to take all this away and give it to another city is heart breakening .

A solution to this problem ? An expansion team . David Stern shall take a page from the NFL and copy it . I’m sure many of you already know that the Baltimore Ravens are the ORIGINAL Cleveland Browns . Then Browns owner Art Modell took the original Browns and moved them to Baltimore , Maryland , changing both their name and identities into the Baltimore Ravens . A few years later , the city of Cleveland, Ohio was blessed with an expansion team , able to keep the old Cleveland Brown name . So even though the current Cleveland Browns are’nt the original franchise , Baltimore is , today’s Browns are still the BROWNS !!! So as long as the Oklahoma City Thunder are not called the Oklahoma City Sonics or OKC SuperSonics I see no reason for Stern not to bring an expansion NBA team to Seattle in the near future . Allowing the city of Seattle to reclaim the SuperSonic name and tradition , just like Cleveland regaining custody of the Browns .
