No word on the extent of injuries…

The newest member of the NBA’s Boston Celtics, 4 time NBA Champion and future Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal is hospitalized and in critical condition after a one vehicle accident late Wednesday night.  Reports are sketchy at this point, but it appears that O’Neal swerved to avoid an animal in the road, had to continue across the opposing lane to avoid oncoming traffic, and crashed head on into a utility pole.

The extent of shaquille O’Neal’s injurues is unknown at this point, but initial reports indicate that they are categorized as ‘Life threatening’.  Alchohol was not a contributing factor.

O’Neal has, for years, been not only one of the NBA’s most dominant players, but one of the most entertaining.  His recent signing with the Boston Celtics, while only that of a role player, was expected to be one of the final pieces of the puzzle in the last run at a championship for the storied (and aging) NBA franchise.

No word, obviousl, on weather his injuries will derail the end of his basketball career.

Here we go again. I’ll bet the animal he was dodging was a two ton elephant. Just when he was going to get engaged for the tenth time. Time will tell.

Huh? I’m so sad for him. Yeah I agree with you that he is not one of the dominant players in the NBA today. But he’s just so entertaining sometimes. He already made a name in the league. I so sad for this. I hope he’ll be fine.

too bad for him :( …. 1 bad move and you can go directly to the hospital and it’s not even your mistake….i hope that animal is dead by now…

As far as I can tell from google, this never actually happened, as no other sites at all mention this? If this indeed is the case, I think it’s disgraceful that someone would post things like this to try and get page views…

Yeah Mnofdichotomy posts stuff like this all the time to get views. A long time ago, he posted that Johnny Depp was dead to get views. Now, he says Lady Gaga is dead as well when she is clearly much alive.

Aye Basketballkid, I’ve seen him doing so before as well, have contacted Triond about it but so far they don’t seem to be acting, which I think is a shame =/ It makes it seem like it’s okay to profit from misleading the public, and creating outright lies about people who have a family and others who care for them…

I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info.

Notice the bad English…it’s an eye sore to read this article.

‘No word, obviousl, on weather his injuries will derail the end of his basketball career.’

It may have grammatical errors, but it will still be very popular and probably make plenty more views than anything I could crank out. As for the article itself, since I couldn’t find any news report that would tell of this injury(and because shaq is one of the more famous players) it is obviously not true :P His wife was in a minor accident a couple months ago though, from what I saw on cbssports lol.

Well not just that actually, the fact that so many people believe stuff like this at a first glance is somewhat entertaining. I always do research after I read an article, but from what I’ve seen, Mn writes this way often. Don’t scrutinize him for it, he is doing pretty well off without us XD

No not big man Shaq! Hes a teddy bear noo shaq!

    Speaking of beating a dead horse… :-\

My good thoughts for him to get well fast.

I just joined Triond and saw this article along with 2 others. As soon as I saw them I immediately clicked on all three just to see what had happened. I had know idea that they were fake articles.
To briantaylor1992: You said you find it somewhat entertaining how people fall for this stuff at first glance, well for a min. or two I was one of those people. :) It was kind of funny how quickly I clicked on them, but I definitely would of googled them right away. I first saw the one about Macaulay Culkin and wanted to read what happened to him, right after that I saw Lady Gaga, and then I saw that Shaq was in critical condition and then I became suspicious. : ) Don’t usually leave many comments and this one is the longest I’ve written in a few years actually. Anyway…enough typing.

…Hi, I had not heard anything about this on the news and I am wondering why not? Unless I just missed it. I hope he gets better. Thanks for the report. Take care.

…shame on you if this is not true, you should be banned if you continue to do this…pitiful.

Basketball player haters! The man is hurt! And all I can read is bitter contempt! Good job reporting relevant news! Something most writers on this site have no clue of! Sorry people are just pure sorry–and want everyone else to be sorry like them. Shaq, like all humans, may have his faults of imperfection–but sorry is not one of them. I believe the human deserves our respect and certainly our care. So what, he is larger than most of us—it is his gift–but to shrink his accident off as something small–is to say a lot of small about oneself! This is an ugly picture of mankind–and what man will ever desire to be a part of it is far beyond me! Cool!

  20. Posted September 2, 2010 at 6:54 pm

Maybe, here too, I have been duped! I still stand by the first comment–because it is relevant! However, if this is “fake news” purported to be real news–then this site needs some serious monitoring! I can not believe someone will make something up like this! It is utmost crude! Writers write in search of the truth!
We trust in Truth! We do not even have our guards up for any kind of defense–knowing truth in the media is always forth-coming! This is not a laughing matter–and this is coming from a person who takes nothing too serious and loves to play around! I respect what I do and all the others that do what I do, and all the people who had ever done what I do–and did it with a sincere passion for the truth! Anything else is uncivilized! Cool!
