Kudos to Richard Jefferson

Terrific decision to stop before it is too late about getting married.

In case you did not hear the news the newly acquired San Antonio Spurs player Richard Jefferson was supposed to get married to a former NJ Nets dancer, no doubt they met and dated while he was playing for the New Jersey Nets basketball team, well…2 hours before the wedding there came the announcement that there was not going to be any wedding, the bride and the guests were shocked because there was no hint that something like this was going to happen, but it did happen, but he had already given his best man his American Express black card and he told him to have a party with the guests and enjoy.

All I can say is kudos to you Mr. Jefferson, that is awesome.  Okay no one wants to be jilted at the altar but hey, obviously this young man knew something and he knew that something was not right about this wedding, so he decided nope he cannot do it and he did not do it.  I sure wish I had made that same decision with my last wife whom I married 6 years ago, we were only married for 3 1/2 years, and sad to say had the young couple married I bet you dollars to donuts it would not have lasted.  We will never know what was up and why he made this decision 2 hours before the blessed event was to take place but hey, again all that I can say is kudos to Mr. Jefferson.  There was doubt in his heart he listened to his heart and he did what he thought was the right thing to do.  I bet you he feels a lot better as opposed to his jilted bride, but hey come on obviously something was amiss with those two otherwise this would not have happened.

If you’re not sure about doing something like getting married then don’t do it, people will  be shocked, and they will gossip and talk about it as I am right now but in the end and in the long run, the person who made the decision is the one who has to deal with his/her important decision that he/she made.  Once again kudos to Mr. Jefferson for taking a bold move on his wedding day and at the last minute he decided to jump ship. Better late than never.

As a woman, my first, visceral reaction was to bash the would-be groom for breaking the jilted heart of the would-be bride, but your point is well-taken: there may have been damning evidence that came to light at the last minute. I wasn’t there, so who am I to judge?

My new motto: don’t rush to marry — don’t rush to judge.

Another case in point: Babyface’s ex, Tracey Edmonds and Eddie Murphy – married on New Year’s Day (’08), but didn’t make it one month. The bride filed for divorce 15 days into the marriage!

Who knows what went down? And like Richard Jefferson and his jilted, who knows which one of the couple was the real heartbreaker?

I agree with you Gabrielle, and I forgot about Eddie and Tracy, so there you go obviously something was amiss in both of those scenarios. The point is to never rush into something and if you are unsure of something, even at the last moment it is never too late to get out of it. Better safe than sorry.
