Eurobasket 2009

As quarter finals began, excitement and thrill goes into upper level. Now, d’s must be harder, tougher. Offences must be perfect. Because if you lose one game, you automatically say bye bye to medals.

Yesterday, first games which are between Russia – Serbia and France – Spain of quarterfinals were played. Young Serbia players have little experience on this level of tournements but they do know each other. They are playing with same players for almost 6-7 years, enough time to get used to team-mates ha? Also Serbia is one of the countries which have nearly gorgeous basketball tradition. While they were beating Russia and making semi-finals, score board was showing 79-68.

Spain, funny to talk about this team. You can remember the dream team of 90’s. There were MJ, Bird, Magic, Postman.. Spain in Eurobasket 2009 is their European versions, i think. To be honest, in the begining of this tournement, if the fiba directly gives gold medal to Spain, most of the people couldn’t say anything. However, Spain was failed to fulfill these early expectations in the begining. They lost against Serbia, got a tough win over Great Britian. Well, as they got to the next step, they began to play nicer. Yesterday, They beat unbeated France 86 to 66. Incredible..

Today, opponents of Serbia and Spain will be determined. Turkey (the team of passion) will play against Greece (the team of confidence) and Slovenia will play against Croatia.
