1. Get a basketball and hold it in your hands so that your right hand (shooting hand) is right behind the ball and your left hand (guide hand) is on the side of the ball.
2. Aim about three inches above the rim of the basket.
3. Make sure that your right foot is slightly in front of your left foot.
4. Bend your knees so that they make a 150 degree angle with the ground in order to gain power for your shot.
5. Quickly bring the basketball over your head so that the bottom of the ball is just above your forehead.
6. Keep your shooting arm bent at a ninety degree right angle under the ball and your guide hand on the ball.
7. Jump straight up and at the peak of your jump, shoot the basketball by pushing the ball upwards and outwards with your shooting hand while keeping your guide hand on the side of the ball to make sure the shot is straight.
8. After the release, your shooting arm should be straight, making roughly a forty-five degree angle with the ground, and the shooting hand should be pointing directly downwards (like you are reaching into a cookie jar) to give the ball backspin.
9. Hold your follow-through position for about one second after the release to get a better feel for the shot
10. Repeat the process until your shot is perfected and you are fairly accurate.
NOTE: The entire process should be one fluid motion and should only take about one second to complete. Also, this process can be used by left handed people by switching the shooting hand and guide hand.
