We are a week away from the All-Star break and the NL Central Division tight. Before the season the experts where all saying the same thing. The Chicago Cubs were going to run away and hide with this division. Well three months and a good number of key injuries and performance let downs and the division is tight. The Cardinals lead it by a game over the Brewers. The Cubs are not out if it yet sitting a whole 2.5 games back. The Reds are 3 games back and the Astros are four 4 back.

Now with all do respect to the fans of these other teams I must say this. The Cubs have weathered the storm. Aramis Ramirez has missed most of the season and has been the teams best hitter in the past. As long as his shoulder holds up I can’t help but feel that when he does get back into his groove at the plate this Cubs team will prove the experts right.  Up to this point in the season the Cubs have not fallen back further than 4.5 games back. With Ramirez rejoining the team only sitting 2.5 games back and a home series against the hated Cardinals. This division could be have a new leader by the home run derby.
