The History of Baseball

Baseball is a very fun sport to play because you get to hang out with people you know. In addition, baseball is very challenging because you have to have good hand eye coordination. I am a fan of this sport because I like to be involved in sports that are interesting. Next, you have to have a few things to play baseball like a bat, ball, field, and players. I know that baseball was created in Canada, a long time ago and they used a broomstick for a bat and a ball for a baseball. Most of the players who played baseball first were mostly white people.

Some things I want to find out about baseball are as follows: What year was baseball invented? Who invented baseball? Why was it invented? Was it called something else before it was called baseball? Who were the first people to play it? Next, I want to find out who was the first player to hit a homerun? Finally, my last thing I want to know about baseball is who was the first pitcher to pitch a no-hitter?

While using my internet source, I found many things about baseball that I did not know, like the first game ever played was on June 4, 1838 in Ontario , Canada . Next, I found out that the first real team was the Cincinnati Red Stockings. In addition, I found out that baseball derived from a few games like rounders and town ball. Baseball was mostly invented for white people but they had Negro leagues too. The last thing I found out about baseball while using my internet source is that the designated hitter, (DH) rule came into play in the early 1970’s.

While I was researching my topic in several books, I found out a lot of information that I did not know. I found out that the American league joined the MLB association in 1882. Baseball was also a free uniquely American creation. During the Great Depression, baseball was not very interesting to the fans. In 1939, the Official Baseball Museum was built honoring the sport and the best of the best that played it. “Take me out to the Ball game” is a usual ritual during a baseball game and is usually played during the seventh inning. The person I interviewed was my dad. He used to play baseball when he was younger. He told me a lot of information about baseball that I did not know. He told me that he was an O.K. player but he was very fast. His least favorite part about baseball is when you are in the field trying to get the outs. In addition, he said that when he played in the outfield he had to run a lot . On the other hand, his favorite part is that you are playing with your friends and getting good exercise to stay in shape. Next, he said, “That he still enjoys watching the Pittsburgh Pirates play”. His interests about baseball are the time you spend playing and the way you feel after you play a game of baseball.

I have learned many new things about baseball when I was writing my “I-Search” paper. I learned a lot of new information like it was first played in Canada . Next, that the American League joined baseball after the National League did. Thirdly, that baseball was not very popular during the Great Depression. Fourthly, I learned that they always play “Take me out to the Ball game” during every game during the seventh inning stretch. The last thing I learned about baseball is that the first team to play was the Cincinnati Red Stockings.
