As a resident of boston I absolutely love the red sox, so i’ll tell you a bit about them, and the “curse of the bambino”.

In 1918, the Bostons Americans (Red Sox) were arguably the best team in baseball, they won 6 world series in the last 10 years.  Things were looking real good.  Until, one day the former Red Sox owner sold Babe Ruth and 3 other Red Sox players to the Yankees.  He sold them to fund a play he wrote that turned out to be probably the worst play ever!  So anyway after this trade occurred the Red Sox went on to lose 4 world series after that over the course of 86 years.  Until, they finally won in 2004.  It is considered a curse because when the Sox were in the world series they had very bad luck.  An example is, in 1986 the Red Sox played the Mets and the Sox were winning in the 9thin game 6 with 2 outs.  If they would have stopped the Mets they would have won the series, then a routine ground ball is hit to the first baseman, Bill Buckner and it went through his legs! costing the Sox the game and later on, the series.  Then in 2004, finally the Red Sox after receiving Josh Becket and Mike Lowell both from the Florida Marlins that year, won the world series.  It took many restless years but in the end the Red Sox made everyone in New England proud.  Perosnally, I believe the Red Sox are like a reason to live.  I hope they continue to play well and keep winning championships.  I hope to remain a Red Sox fan for as long as I live, and I hope to persuade some of you to join the Red Sox Nation as you read this essay.  Thank You for your time.
