New York Yankees Beat Angles’ 5-2 in Game Six of Alcs

In Game Six of the ALCS New York knocked off the LA Angles by a score of 5 to 2 in front of 50,173 fans.
Pettitte held off the Angles through six and one-third innings allowing seven hits and one earned run. Joe Saunders pitched only three and one-third innings for the Angles and allowed the Yankees seven hits and three earned runs. Mariano Rivera finished the game for the Yankees and allowed two hits and one earned run.
The Angles were the first out of the gate with a score by Jeff Mathis on a single by Bobby Abreu. The Yankees came back in the forth inning scoring three times. The first and second came on a single by Johnny Damon in which Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher crossed the plate. The third came when Alex Rodriguez was walked allowing Derek Jeter to come home.
In the eighth both teams were busy. Chone Figgins scored on a single by Vladimir Guerrero but that was all the scoring the Angles could muster for the remainder of the game. The Yankees added to their lead with a pair of sacrifices. Robinson Cano scored again on a Melky Cabrera scarifies and Brett Gardner scored when Mark Teixeira sacrificed to center.
First game of the World Series will be played between the Phillies and the Yankees on Wednesday October 28th in New York.
