The Mets in 2007 looked like they where going to be the best team in the national league. They had many all stars on their team including Jose Reyes, David Wright, and Carlos Beltran.
At one time they even had a 7 game lead on the NL East.
In the beginning of the season the Mets had some major injuries to good players. Moises Alou got hurt and missed about 2 months. Orlando Hernandez missed the beginning of the season
with Mike Palfrey to take his place and eventually Mike Palfrey got replaced by Jorge Sosa
who pitched good.
When Jose Valentin get hurt the mets did not know what to do. After a few weeks they
got Luis Castillo from the Minnesota Twins and he did very well for the Mets.
Everything was great for the Mets until September came. Then they started to loose and
loose a lot. They also lost to last place teams because the had a bad bullpen. But in
mid September they still had a 7 game lead over the Phillies and with about 15 to play
the Mets thought they could clinch. When the Phillies came to Shea and swept them
they started to play horribly and they loosing most games.
On the final day of the regular season they where tied with Philadelphia for 1st place
and that day Tom Glavine gave up 7 runs in the 1st inning and he only got 1 out. The
Mets lost that game 8 to 1 and the Phillies won their game so the Phillies clinched the
NL East. This was the biggest loosing streak in baseball. Thats how the mets 2007 season
