The next Ken Griffey? No, the first Grady Sizemore. Sizemore will become one of the best to ever step foot in center.

A standout player is usually known by one characteristic that makes them one of a kind. Barry Bonds is known for his power, Ozzie Smith for his glove, or Ricky Henderson for his speed. What happens when one guy is all of those things? We will find out as Grady Sizemore progresses. He has every skill that is vital to being not only a great center fielder, but also one of the best to ever play the game.

You might be asking, “Who in the hay is Grady Sizemore?” and “Why do I give a hoot?” To answer the first, Grady Sizemore is the spectacular Center Fielder for the Cleveland Indians, and you should give a hoot because he will break the record for the most 40 home runs and 40 steals in a season. In only his third year, Sizemore looks like a veteran at the plate. He takes what the opposition will give him, not over zealous on high fastballs, but would never watch strike three. His patience at the plate is one thing, but his incredible power is something to awe about. Hitting 50 home runs in first two full seasons Sizemore looks like a force to reckon with. His third season will be his most productive in the home run department, and will hit 40 by his 4th season.

To compliment his incredible power, his speed blows pitchers away. After 44 stolen bases in his first two seasons, Grady will make a run at 40 in his third season. Not only does Grady light up the base paths, but his incredible speed in center helps him track down many balls. His closing speed can turn a routine double into a diving catch for another out. Sizemore will continue to steal bases and rip the grass up in center.

Last is the amazing glove that Sizemore possesses, it might be his speed that allows him to make amazing plays, but Sizemore never seizes to amaze me with over the shoulder catch and sliding grabs. Not only can he make an amazing catch, but he can run up on a grounder through the middle and gun down a runner rounding third. He keeps his errors to a minimum and always is a sure hand in center.

Producing incredible stats, Sizemore looks good on more than just paper. Sure, Sizemore has a cannon of an arm, a powerful bat, and amazing wheels. What sets him apart is his passion for the game, the drive to run through every groundout. I have faith that Grady will put everything he has into every one of those 162 games. Look out for the young talent of Grady Sizemore, he will be a star in the future?

Grady is an amazing player, but you’ve got one stat wrong. “Sizemore has a cannon of an arm…”

Actually, he rates only a 35 on a scouting scale of 20 to 80, not too impressive. He makes up for that in his speed and sure glove, though.
