Even when they was winning championships People was saying Steinbrenner, should just let the coaches coach and manage the team. And that’s sound fine and dandy to say. But logical not really. When you paid as much to get a name brand organization. And spend that much money to keep high profile players.
You got the right to tell them,if they making odd ball error. Like get caught in bad plays that wasn’t acommplishable when you initiatedthe steal. And when he fired managers, there was many. He still paid them the contractual agreement. But he was also a smart business man. He assigned them to coach one of his minor league team. Not relax and get paid. Say whatyou will. He was and still is great for baseball. Unless you a devoted die-hart fan. There’s not too many who can name a hand full of Yankees owner. We probably can list more players for the Yankees than owners.

Like Al Davis and Jerry Jones of Football. Steinbrenner, reminds me of Branch Rickey. If you in charge of anything. Put your brand on that item. And you never say the Yankees without thinking of his name. Things might change further down the road. But he part of the Yankees mystical heroes.
